Smo- kers and tea and coffee drinkers may also wish to pay extra close attention. Birkenhead Avenue Dental Centre is offering a choice of two convenient and affordable whiten- ing procedures to fit your time- table and your budget. You can opt for either an in- surgery whitening plan or a take- home whitening kit. In-surgery whitening involves a simple but effective one hour whitening procedure, currently just $700. First, you ll have an initial con- sultation to assess the perfect colour for your teeth. They ll explain the process so you are thoroughly familiar with it. Then the practice s friendly team will show you what you can do to keep your teeth sparkling white for years. When it s time for your treat- ment, they ll use Zoom light to make your teeth up to 10 shades whiter in just one hour. The prep work is quick and easy and before you know it you look like a new person, and will find it nearly impossible to stop smiling! For patients who d prefer the take-home whitening kit, Birken- head Avenue Dental currently has a special offer for only $450 -- con- ditions apply. Thanks to Birkenhead Avenue Dental Centre s check-up special there s no reason to delay visiting the dentist. This includes two x-rays, an examination and clean- ing for only $75 for new patients. Until the end of January they are also offering a porcelain fused to metal crown for just $950. Con- ditions apply, root canal treat- ment and post/core not included. Free WINZ consultations and quotes are available. All high school pupils under 18 years of age receive free dental treatment under the Ministry of Health con- tract. Inspirational lives sought Parkinson s New Zealand is mark- ing its 30th anniversary by recognis- ing the contribution people with Parkinson s and volunteers make in the community. Nominations are now open for five awards. Three awards celebrate people with Parkinson s who: con- tribute to the wider community, endeavour to remain fit and active, and who seize the day with their passion for work, creativity or a hobby. There are also two service awards for volunteers. Nominations close March 4 and nomination forms can be found on www.parkinsons.org.nz. The award titles were inspired by a number of well-known New Zea- landers including former Patron of the Society and current Ambassa- dor, Olympian Sir Peter Snell and Sir David Levene OBE, the Society s current Patron. These awards are a tribute to the recipients but also recognise all the great people who have helped build our Society in to the strong, caring organisation it is today, chief executive Deirdre O Sullivan says.
