Eating well to lose weight Healthy living: Nutritionist Claire Turnbull of Birkenhead has written Lose Weight For Life about learning to eat food for the right reasons. Photo: JESS ETHERIDGE Go to northshoretimes.co.nz and click Latest Edition to read Claire Turnbull's recipes for tandoori chicken and dessert berry breeze. By JESS ETHERIDGE Claire Turnbull's life is a balanc- ing act. The Birkenhead resident is a registered nutritionist, has wor- ked with the All Blacks and NPC rugby teams and runs her own company. But the 30-year-old has battled body image issues throughout her life. I was the fussiest child you have ever met in your life. I ate beetroot, cottage cheese and potatoes. I wouldn't eat any- thing green, no vegetables. I used to cry when mum used to make me eat healthy food, we used to have fights over food.'' Her weight fluctuated from underweight to chubby'' as a result of her bad food habits. As a child I was called chubby,'' she says. When I was born I was a Michelin man, and then I went through a stage of binging in my late teens.'' She has come out on the other side after learning food is nothing more than nutrition. Mrs Turnbull says she is teach- ing women how to live a happier life with food. Mrs Turnbull has written Lose Weight For Life which is mostly about developing healthy eating habits. She says once people eat food for the right reasons weight loss follows. But developing a healthy relationship with food is the goal. Lose Weight For Life is avail- able in all book stores now.
