Fun activities: At Kinderhaven in Glenfield the learning programme allows children the 'freedom to be kids'. Kinderhaven in Glen- field has been providing two to five-year-old chil- dren with the right mix of quality care and new learning opportunities for more than 10 years. They believe children learn and develop best in an environment where they feel safe and secure. The children's individ- ual work goes into their own portfolios, which are now online so that famil- ies can access them any- time. Kinderhaven's team of qualified teachers and teachers-in-training includes two Mandarin speakers and exceeds ministry requirements with an excellent tea- cher/child ratio. For your child this means more personal attention, a greater sense of security, and lots of fun-filled days. The results really show in the children's learning and development. Four-year-old children at Kinderhaven really benefit from the centre's transition to school pro- gramme -- designed to help ease them into school routines by learn- ing vital skills such as pre-maths and pre- reading. Free morning or after- noon sessions are avail- able for eligible three and four-year-old chil- dren from Monday to Friday. These sessions are available from 8am to noon, or 1pm to 5pm. Kinderhaven's normal opening hours are from 7.30am to 5.30pm for children attending longer hours, in which fees are payable for the additional time. How- ever, your child may be covered by a WINZ sub- sidy for the extra hours. Freedom to be kids' is the foundation on which Kinderhaven's learning programme is based, and all children are treated as valued and respected individuals. They love the spacious outdoor area that includes a large safety mat area with lots of fun oppor- tunities for creative play and exercise. Family/whanau are welcomed into the centre environment, and are encouraged to develop a partnership that will assist children to achieve their full potential.
