Have you always wanted to pursue a career in healthcare, but thought you had left it too late in life ... or assumed you didn t have the necessary qualifications to become a success? The message from the New Zealand Career Col- lege (NZCC) is clear: Don t give up, you can still make your dreams come true! Just look at Jo Bosman, Chelsa D Lima and Lauren Cole -- three of NZCC s cur- rent students who will this week begin studying towards achieving a Cer- tificate in Healthcare Support, Level 4. As a mature student, Jo found it quite daunt- ing returning to study following a break span- ning more than two decades -- but after receiving a warm wel- come from NZCC she is now excited about taking the first step on her journey to becoming a qualified nurse. I haven t been in a classroom for about 25 years, but I am feeling very comfortable at NZCC already, Jo says. Recent school-leavers Chelsa and Lauren were encouraged to enrol in NZCC s 20-week, full- time course after finding out they had not meet the entry requirements for degree level study. Chelsa, who wants to work in dentistry, says she believes the Certifi- cate in Healthcare Sup- port will not only give her a good foundation in healthcare and science, but will also teach her vital study and profes- sional development skills that will help her suc- ceed in the future. I am glad that I chose NZCC -- I have already made a friend here and am looking forward to the study groups, where we will get help and sup- port not only from our tutors but also from fel- low classmates, Chelsa says. The course pathways into 11 different sectors of health science at AUT University alone, includ- ing nursing, applied mental health, podiatry and midwifery. Late enrolments are still being accepted for the Certificate in Health- care Support, Level 4 -- but hurry, spaces are strictly limited. To kick-start your career today give NZCC a call on 0800 88 6922. You can also visit www.nzcc.ac.nz or drop into the Auckland City Campus at Level 3, 75 Karangahape Rd, Auckland.
