The North Harbour Open is the first of three semi-professional inter- national tour events being played over the next three weekends. Athletes from Ger- many, Australia and the United States will go head to head with estab- lished as well as up and coming Kiwi talent. Newly crowned natio- nal champions will head- line the New Zealand contingent. Hamilton's Julia Tilley and Shaunna Polley, who won the national women's title on their home court last week- end, are joined by their male counterparts in the form of Bay of Plenty combination Sam O'Dea and Sonny Hirini as well as the New Zealand No 2 pairing of Whakatane's Paora Morunga and Grif- fin Muller. Third placed New Zea- land women Melissa Ruru and Alice Bain will also be in action on the Shore over the two days of competition. Keep an eye out for the Harbour pairings of Fiona Scrim- shaw and Susana Vega, Charlotte Joy and Anna- lise Vukets, Liam Mun- day and Bede Jeffries as well as Thomas Hartles and Jesse Hawkins.
