This work is by John Horton. Extensive programme: Adults are spoilt for choice in the arts programme. Mairangi Arts Centre offers an exciting art class programme with a wide range of classes to suit everyone -- any age, any level of ability, with many time slots avail- able. Adults are spoilt for choice with classes dur- ing the day, on most evenings and at week- ends. Painting in acry- lics, oils or watercolour, basic drawing skills, pho- tography, paper sculp- ture, cast glass, printma- king, life drawing -- all are covered by the Centre's extensive pro- gramme. A brand new year-long cast glass class taught by glass artist/tutor Lou Pendergrast-Mathieson enables students to enjoy creating beautiful objects in this captivating medium. Good results are quickly achievable. Teenagers will enjoy the brand new Street Art' selection of classes newly incorporated in the programme. A Saturday workshop gives them the opportunity to decorate a skate deck using aerosol, paint, pen and stenciling. After- wards the deck may be hung on the wall as a cool piece of artwork, or by simply attaching wheels it becomes a unique, functional skateboard. Alternatively, they may prefer to learn the techniques of pavement art while extending their design skills or they may prefer to join the fashion design workshop to keep up to date with all the latest trends and then learn how to create designs of their own. Children from five to 12 years have the choice of educational yet enjoy- able classes in painting, drawing, clay, photogra- phy or cooking taught by the Centre's friendly, knowledgeable, tutors. For more information on Mairangi Arts Centre's classes, call 478-237 between 9.30am and 4pm, Monday to Saturday, or view www.mairangiarts.co.nz. Online booking is available. Be inspired!
