The play is set in the 1930s where two boys experience the excite- ment of Christmas day. Actor Stephen Lovatt will perform the free solo piece for the fifth con- secutive year in what is fast becoming a North Shore Christmas Day tradition. Scottish heritage will be celebrated at a free festi- val on January 22 from 11am to 4.30pm. There will be pipe bands, Scottish Country and Highland dancers, a haggis parade and tasting, a Scottish celtic band and poetry and songs. Scottish Festival in the Park is in the Auckland Domain by the rotundra and people are encouraged to bring a picnic. The event has been funded by Fletcher Construction. Plunket is asking parents and caregivers to keep children safe dur- ing the busy Kiwi sum- mer. In summer there are more people around with friends and family visiting and also more vehicles, Plunket nat- ional child safety adviser Sue Campbell says. A number of under- fives are run over in the driveways of their homes. She urges drivers to where possible drive forwards out of the drive- way and always check when reversing. It would be great to see families or groups taking time to ensure an adult is watching out for children at all times.''
