Students are noteworthy By LISA HONEYBONE Searching under sofa cushions and in the back of drawers led Mairangi Bay Primary students to find foreign money. They collected more than $300 from 28 foreign currencies in their drive to find old money and foreign cur- rency for the Heads Up For Kids Campaign. Launched on July 10, Lions clubs have raised more than $100,000 by asking people to dig out and donate their old coins, banknotes and any foreign currency and deliver it to Resene ColorShops and retailers. All copper halfpennies, pennies and cents are ending up at a Christ- church foundry for recycling. Old currency will be redeemed dollar-for- dollar at the Reserve Bank. Heads Up for Kids will continue to collect coins well into next year.
