North Shore Em- broiderers Guild held Stitch Birds holiday programmes twice this year to pass their skills on to children from 8 to 12 years. The most recent classes were held in October. Courses were held with assistance from Creative Communities NZ. Authors selected for residencies Authors of two rad- ically different projects have been selected for residencies at Devon- port's Michael King Writers' Centre. The summer resi- dency has been awarded to playwright Arthur Meek, who is working on a drama about the high life of 1980s New Zealand. The autumn resi- dency has been awarded to Wellington author Nelson Wattie for a literary biography of Kapiti poet, novelist and playwright Alistair Te Ariki Campbell.
