The grey and white cat has been found and reunited with his owner, Murrays Bay resident Lizzie Grudnoff. He went missing on October 15 and a search led to a caretaker break- ing his arm after falling into a stormwater drain. Ms Grudnoff says the North Shore Times’ story about Browns Bay handyman Frank Pin- der’s ordeal while trying to find Henry led to his homecoming. The cat was finally home on Tuesday, the same day the paper ran the story. ‘‘I’m absolutely over the moon. Henry was back in my arms two days before my birthday. ‘‘That’s the best gift one could ever wish for,’’ she says. Ms Grudnoff says a Torbay resident rang to say that Henry had been with her for quite a while. ‘‘What clinched it was the story in the North Shore Times and the advertisement that we ran to get Henry back,’’ she says. She says the ads in the paper also gave them leads that eventually led to finding Henry. ‘‘If there’s anybody out there who has lost a pet, I’m more than happy to assist them, I know how it feels,’’ she says. You can improve the odds of finding your missing pet, Auckland SPCA says. Visit www.petsonthenet.co .nz . Advice includes: ❚ Search your house and garden and ask your neighbours ❚ Ring animal control, particularly for dogs ❚ Advertise in your local paper ❚ Ring vets in your area ❚ Circulate flyers and put a sign on your berm ❚ Microchip your pet.
