Photo: BEN WATSON By MICHELLE ROBINSON THE ZOU family got a rude awakening when a car ploughed into their Beach Haven house early on Saturday morning. I thought it was an earthquake, my wife and I felt the house shake and dust fell from the ceiling,'' Woody Zou says. The couple and Mr Zou's cousin got the fright of their lives to find a Toyota had run off Rangatira Rd into the front of their house, not far from where the cousin was sleeping. Neighbours also got a fright when they saw the car crash through their fence and over the gar- den. It's really scary be- cause my neighbour was gardening and went in the house for a cup of tea and that's when it happened,'' Mr Zou says. She could have died.'' Closed curtains pre- vented glass from spill- ing into Mr Zou's office after a fence post hurtled towards the window. Another post landed on the roof. The office was to become a bedroom for when the couple plan to have a baby next year. But now Mrs Zou is struggling to sleep at night and wants to move, something they can't eas- ily do after buying their first home last year. Mr Zou says a similar crash occurred just before they moved in, and their neighbours have had a car crash in front of their house as well. A number of residents want the council to install a speed bump to prevent cars flying down the hill after coming round the bend. North Shore police sergeant Scott Cunning- ham says a male driver was arrested. Police are waiting for results of alcohol tests before laying charges.
